Spend the day learning how to make images using the manual settings in your camera while being surrounded by wilderness.
For those who:
- have a digital camera (DSLR) but only shoot in Auto mode
- have watched and taken online workshops but still have questions
- absolute beginners
You will:
- learn how to understand your camera in Manual mode
- take lead control of the settings on your camera so your images turn out as you envisioned them
- learn the fundamentals of digital photography
- get a handbook with notes on everything that the course covers
Good photographs come from a passion for your subject, not from a passion for equipment. Passion for outdoor photography comes from many places:
Immersing yourself in the natural world
Gaining experience and knowledge in the outdoors
Itinerary: We’ll meet first thing in the morning lake-side and go over instruction on manual settings with time to work on exercise. The afternoon will be spent paddling a canoe around one of Algonquin’s pristine lakes or rivers using the skills you learned. It’s a great way to work on aperture, shutter speed and ISO, and get some awesome shots of your new friends canoeing in Algonquin Park.
Experience: this workshop is for all levels. Both beginners and advanced photographers will walk away with new skills.
Endurance: We’ll be sitting and wandering around most of the morning, but the afternoon will be spent paddling around in canoes along a river and out to a lake if the wind is in our favour. Moderate canoeing skills will be beneficial, but not required.
What’s included: canoe, paddle, PFD (personal flotation device/lifejacket) and safety kit. Course materials. Lunch (please bring your own water and snacks). Park day pass.
What’s not included: snacks/water. Accommodation.
What to Bring: We’ll spend the morning learning outside at a picnic area. You’ll need to bring a chair, warm clothing/blanket, snacks/lunch and water for drinking. Sunscreen, hat, rain gear. Bring a tripod and your camera manual.
