Our Great Northern Adventure - Sleeping Giant Provincial Park (Pass Lake, ON)

Up early, a light/quick breakfast of cold cereal and right into the Sube (Severn in her jammies). This day was our longest day of driving for the whole trip. We had to make it from Lake Superior Provincial Park to Sleeping Giant Provincial Park.

But there were so many stops to make along the way! The first being Wawa where we just had to show Severn the big Canada goose.

This was really just a pee break and a quick stretch of the legs until we were back in the Sube for our next pit stop.

White River!

We had a snack there, stretched our legs and explored.

White River! Birthplace of Winnie the Pooh.

“FLLAAAAAAGGGGGGG!” She was so excited. Never mind the big yellow bear sitting in a tree in the background.

Okay, now it’s interesting!

She had a pretty good nap after this stop, so we decided to drive as far as we could. We made it to Terrace Bay for a late lunch of Subway on the beach next to Gitchigumi.

When we finally did arrive at Sleeping Giant Provincial Park it was raining. Not a lot, but we definitely had to set up the tarp/shelter. We ate dinner and went for an evening stroll to see her - the sleeping giant.

We drove so much that we decided to stay a couple of days here. It was so welcomed! The thought of not having to get up and pack everything into the Sube was awesome.

After breakfast I went for a run and then met those two down at the beach. Since you can’t shower at the washroom facilities or on your campsite, I had to rinse off in the lake.

We decided to skip nap time because let’s be honest, putting a toddler down for a nap in a tent is a waste of time. She didn’t want to sleep. Too much going on.

Instead we went for a small hike out to see the elephant - Lion’s Lookout Trail. It looks more like an elephant.

See? An elephant!

Finally! A picture of the 3 of us! Can’t see me? Look closer.

A few days into our Great Northern Adventure and I was constantly saying out loud “I’m having the most AMAZING time!”

I was. I didn’t realize how much I desperately needed this vacation with my husband and our daughter.

I knew I needed Superior in my heart, but the dosage was hitting me like a ton of bricks. I effing love it up here.

This wraps up nights 3 and 4 of our 15 nights. Our next stop along the way is Branch’s Seine River Lodge - west of Atikokan (west of Thunder Bay). Our daughter will be turning 2 and we take her on a backcountry canoe trip in Quetico Provincial Park!

Adventure awaits.
